The Tome of Ages follows the adventures of a young God by the name of Hazeus and his newly acquainted friends, King Arthur, Lancelot, and Merrdin.

After returning home to the magical land of Rootworld, Hazeus is faced with more responsibility than he’s ever known. With the potential to become the all-powerful God of The Globe, he feels under more pressure than ever, mainly because of his parents, Father Time and Mother Earth.

As Christianity spreads, conflict erupts and begins to threaten the magical pagan world. King Arthur has to find a way to deal with the growing intolerance while adhering to his vows of peace and inclusion. Camelot is divided, and with his sister, Morgan, seduced by the powers of dark magic, Arthur’s life and vision for the Kingdom is in mortal danger. In order to defend his beloved home and its people, Arthur may have to sacrifice himself by using forbidden magic to summon the Great Dragon.

Spoiler-Free Summary

After Hazeus refused to eat bread and drink wine at his own last supper, his friends on Earth weren’t too happy with him. The young God had only been trying to share the knowledge of magic with all those present while simultaneously teaching that bodily desires separate us from our roots. However, in their drunken state, his words went straight over their heads.

After this supper, Hazeus decides to return to Rootworld, a parallel magical realm, and move in with his parents. There, he is given a collection of adult-rated MVDs and told to grow up, as he won’t be able to reach his full potential as a God without being able to take responsibility for his actions.

While watching Earth, Hazeus interacts with and befriends the legendary King Arthur and his knights, Lancelot and Merddin. Together, the four young protagonists embark on a number of hilarious misadventures, all while Arthur establishes himself as King. They also make new friends along the way, such as Fuzzick the Giant and Tom the Doubter, who both help maintain order as conflict arises.

Christianity starts to spread, which leads to division and conflict among the people. On top of this, Dark Magic has made its way into the Kingdom. Hazeus is under more pressure than ever before to grow up and harness the full range of his powers, as this may be the only way to defeat the darkness that has taken hold of Earth.

About The Author Of The Tome of Ages

Jay Horne is an author of more than twenty novellas spanning multiple genres. He has been writing and publishing for over fifteen years and keeps a newsletter at bookflurry.substack.com
What makes him qualified for writing fiction? Well, we asked him:
“Well, I’ve been doing a little of everything besides writing for a very long time. Writing, I’ve been doing a lot of. In an age where authors are computers, I still find joy in every sentence I write. In fact, I may enjoy writing even more than I do reading! And reading, I do a lot of. The only thing that holds a torch to the entertainment of my imagination is playing with my kids. And also, playing with the adults when I attend Ninja Taikais (If you know what those are), or go venturing into caves or onto mountaintops in my druidic robes to cast a few spells. Not to mention, I’ve played with the Navy Seals and been a decorated EMT. Furthermore, I have survived the throes of marriage and divorce. But the most astounding thing to date, is that I still hold down a day job!”
