Nerdection Rating:

“Nerdection Must Read”

“From Legend” by Ian Lewis is a captivating fantasy novel. With an atmosphere rich with suspense, it is a must-read for fantasy enthusiasts and is a worthy addition to any reader’s collection.

Spoiler-free Plot:

Logan Hale, a city-appointed protector who, despite his official status, often bends the rules to safeguard the citizens. He knows his city better than anyone else. But to what extent is that true?

His rough attitude, love for daring rooftop stunts, and sharp mind make him a great superhero. But having some past terrible memories kept him grounded and relatable.

However, a mysterious death discloses strange secrets to Logan and leads him on a wild chase for answers. Logan is positive that it is a gruesome murder and not the suicide incident everyone claims it to be. If he doesn’t get answers soon, even his reputation will be at stake.

Logan uncovers some strange experiments that turn the world into a gothic and horrible place, the world of wretches, humanoid beings with pale skin, clawed hands and feet, and wings like those of a bat. They emit piercing, inhuman screams and are described as being vicious and dangerous. The scary myths of Wojiins the place of poisoning, all were revealed by Logan.

Logan’s on a mission that his father couldn’t complete, an obsession to protect the city. The veil offers complementary perspectives on justice and protection, operating entirely outside of the law to protect the city.

My thoughts on From Legends

From Legends is a great fantasy book that opens new doors of fantasy to the readers. Logan Hale’s determination to fulfill his responsibility of saving the city led him on daring adventures, making his actions truly heroic.

His bravery was unquestionable. How Lewis showed the gothic side and the turning of the world into a terrible place is a great suspense story that makes a reader anxious and excited at the same time to discover what happens next. The eventual disappearance of Logan’s father was also suspicious.

The novel contains dual protagonists, The Veil and The Reeze another strong character with her youthful determination and outsider status. The Reeve has sometimes a flash of memory that explores his relationship with his father, or his lost love. The Veil, on the other hand, operates as a vigilante, working outside the law. I loved her youthful perspective and lack of experience, as it added a layer of vulnerability and relatability to her character. Her backstory establishes a solid motivation for her crime-fighting adventures.

Furthermore, how Carla disturbs his mind and how his relations with his family, make him mentally weak and trigger the reader’s emotions. The writer’s portrayal of the murder case and the events that jeopardize Logan’s reputation appear to be highly questionable and raise suspicions.

The perfect combination of suspense and thrill in this fantasy series makes it an absolute must-read for any enthusiast.

About The Author Of From Legends

Ian Lewis prefers not to be bound by a particular genre. Though the inspiration for his work varies, it often finds roots in something he dreamt. He strives for a gritty realism and maintains an interest in the humanity of his characters. His hope is that readers find themselves haunted by his stories in the sense that the narrative sticks with them long after they’ve finished reading, leaving them with a subtle restlessness for more.
