Lethal Connections is a 2023 crime fiction that revolves around the mysterious killings in St. Bernard Parish in Chalmette, Louisiana. Lance Knight, a sergeant of the St. Bernard Sheriff Department, is saddled with the responsibility to solve this enigma.
Spoiler-free plot
Murder is not alien to St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, but when an effigy and a punctured card are placed by the side of a victim, it becomes more than just an ordinary murder, but likely a homicidal maniac.
From a careful investigation of the murder scene, Lance observes specific patterns that indicated that the killings may be related to a ritual or voodoo practice, but he isn’t one to believe in the supersensual.
The result from the autopsy indicates that the same type of poison was injected into the veins of all three victims. Coupled with the retrieval of the queen of diamond card and an effigy in all three scenes, he is convinced that the three deaths are related, but he hasn’t found the one detail he believes will bring all the dots together.
Things begin to take a different turn when Lexie, his girlfriend was introduced to him as an undercover agent of the FBI, designated to the investigation of the same murder case he was investigating. He doesn’t take this well, even though he acts upon the intelligence she provided him about the case.
After interrogating his key suspect as provided to him by Lexie, Lance is yet to get a breakthrough. He is frustrated and unsure of his next step, when he finds a snake in his car, on his way home. Lance is gripped by fear and he bashes his car into a wall in an accident.
Lance is surprised to find Lexie, his girlfriend, turned undercover agent, visiting him on his hospital bed. He is confused as to how she found out about the incident, considering the news of his accident was covered by the police. Following her exit, Lance calls to confirm from the captain who she claimed informed her of the accident, but the captain denies it.
Perhaps, Lexie is more than who Lance thinks she is. How did she know where he was? Does she know a lot more about this case that she withheld from him? Or is Lexie a psychopath killer?

My take on Lethal Connections: The Poison ID Unit
Lethal Connections is an exciting crime novel that keeps the reader in anticipation of a resolution of the tension. If you love crime novels, the try-to-find-the-bad-guy type of novel with a lot of pieces to try to put together, then this novel is for you.
With a suspense-packed progression of events and exciting plot twist, Lethal Connections meets all the cravings of a crime novel lover.
The author uses a simple chronological narration that makes it easy to follow the development of the climax. With a lot of misdirection here and there, lots of uneven pieces, and a lot to ponder, Lethal Connections is an excellent novel and I highly recommend it.
Overall, this book was amazing and I highly recommend you read it.
