My Take on Unraveling

I expected the book to be the usual revenge story, but honestly, it turned out to be more than that, and that is what made me really like it.

The writer’s style was quiet but sharp, and it hooked me from start to finish. She builds the tension slowly, and while the writing is clean and easy to follow, there is always something deeper unfolding beneath the surface.

The story is divided between past and present, and the writer handles that structure smoothly.

What I liked most was how real the characters felt. Lily is complicated; she lies, manipulates, and uses people. But even then, you still understand why she does what she does. The way she carries her past trauma, shapes this new version of herself, and takes control of her life feels powerful.

What I also liked most was that Lily is not written as some perfect character or hero, but as someone whose role as a therapist means her tools often involve understanding and playing with people’s minds. She presents herself as controlled and composed, but beneath that facade, she is a broken person trying hard to fight her trauma.

What stood out to me most about the book is that it does not give its answers away easily. The ending is not neat or simple, and that fits the story well. So if you like slow burns and a character driven by justice, abuse, trauma, and complexity, then this book is for you.
