Pierre flees from Carcassone to the US, driven by a sense of urgency and a need for a fresh start. He reflects on leaving behind sorrows and failures, seeking refuge in New York to bury his past and embrace a new beginning. Arriving in the Village, he stays with his cousin Jacque, whose apartment is modest but serves as a temporary haven. Pierre seeks anonymity and distance from his past, feeling impecunious after spending all his savings on his journey. He reflects on his strained relationship with his girlfriend Estelle and his determination to escape his home for a better future in the US.

Jacque, on the other hand, embraces the anonymity of New York, seeking a new life away from familial ties and the limitations of his past.

Pierre’s departure is clouded by uncertainties and guilt, considering the potential consequences of his actions back home. Sister Mary, an old nun, pleads with him to stay, but Pierre feels driven by a need for a fresh start far away.

Pierre meets a woman named Jenine in Manhattan. Despite Jenine’s initial uncertainty, Pierre takes charge of their interaction, displaying a mix of mastery, concern, and manipulation. The Monster of Manhattan is an entertaining Dark Psychological Thriller that is suitable for fans of Dark Thrillers. This novel will interest you if you want to ride the psychological waves and have a truly weird experience. The dark contents of this novel will certainly send shivers through your spine.

The storyline will keep you engrossed in this novel, until the very last page of the book. There’s a sense of nostalgia for the past intertwined with the desire for a new beginning. While you read the book, you get to stay connected with the characters.

Jan Pierson skillfully showcases Pierre’s attempts at dominance and manipulation, Jenine’s inner conflict between attraction and loyalty, and Eric, Jenine’s ex boyfriend’s internal struggle with resentment.
