“Nerdection Worth to Read”
If you enjoy a good non-fiction novel, Reign of Injustice: The Cal Harris Story might be precisely what you’re looking for. Written by David Beers, we dive deeper into the actual life events that took place after the mysterious disappearance of Michele Harris.
On 12 September 2001, Michele suddenly vanished from her luxurious dollar lake house in the upstate part of New York. Even though Cal and Michele knew many people, nobody could think of any one person who would want to purposely harm anyone in the family, especially Michele.
In the four years that followed, her body was still missing. The case had gone cold, and no prime suspects were ever identified… That was until the police turned up at Cal’s doorstep and arrested him for the suspected murder of his wife.
Spoiler-Free Summary
When Michele Harris went missing all those years ago, it was a mystery as to what had actually happened. It was hard to believe that she would simply leave. She had always been incredibly close with her children and lived in a beautiful home. However, if she didn’t willingly walk out, where was she? Had something terrible happened to her?
The police appeared to have no promising leads, and slowly but surely, the family began losing hope that they would ever find out what happened to Michele. 4 years after her disappearance, things took a drastic turn when police suddenly showed up on Cal’s doorstep and arrested him for the suspected murder of Michele.
With no body or murder weapon found, his guilty verdict was a tough pill to swallow for a lot of people. When new evidence surfaced, Cal returned to court for a retrial but was found guilty again.
David M. Beers worked on the Cal Harris case for 15 years. With the knowledge of inside information and details that have never been shared with the public, he wrote his own book on the case. David believes that Cal’s story is one of injustice. This sentiment is shared by Cal’s close friends and family members. Do they have the wrong impression of him, or is he another victim of lazy police work?
