    Tips for choosing character names

✓Give your main characters different first letters and syllable counts so readers never mix them up.
✓Say the name out loud in a line of dialogue. If it trips your tongue, it will trip your reader too.
✓Match the name to your setting. Historical results are mainly English-inspired brainstorming suggestions; check the time period, region and culture before using one.
✓Search the name before you commit, to make sure it doesn’t belong to a famous character or real person.
