Ebook

Paperback

Estimated monthly royalties from both formats

Rates checked October 4, 2026: the eligible ebook 70% price band on Amazon.com is $2.99–$12.99. Delivery uses $0.15 per MB of the converted file. The 35% option has no delivery deduction. Direct paperback sales use 50% below $9.99 or 60% from $9.99, minus printing costs. Eligibility also depends on the buyer’s territory and other KDP requirements; the price band alone does not guarantee 70%. Check ebook price requirements, ebook royalties and paperback royalties, and use KDP’s print calculator for actual printing costs.

How to price your book

✓Compare similar books in your genre and test prices within your budget. The eligible royalty band is only one factor; buyer location, file size and your chosen royalty option also matter.
✓Longer books cost more to print, so check your page count with the word count to page count calculator.
✓Honest reviews can help readers assess a book. Sales also depend on its audience, cover, description, price and availability.

Frequently asked questions

How are the royalties calculated?

The calculator uses Amazon KDP’s standard US rates. For eligible Amazon.com ebook sales, the 70% option is 70% of the list price after the delivery deduction; the eligible price band is $2.99–$12.99. You can select 35% instead. Direct paperback royalties are 50% of list price below $9.99 or 60% from $9.99, minus printing costs.

Why does the calculator say my paperback price is below the minimum?

If printing costs exceed the royalty share of your list price, that price does not cover printing. KDP sets a minimum list price; check its calculator rather than treating this as a valid zero-royalty sale.

Is this an exact figure?

No, it’s an estimate. Printing cost depends on page count and ink, so check KDP’s own calculator for the exact number before you set your price.
